Needs Summary Analysis

This document contains my needs summary analysis. The needs summary looks at what the area surrounding 1020 & 1020 Main Street has and what it is lacking in terms of entertainment, dining, and recreation. This gave me a larger perspective on what was needed and what I gaps I could fill using my mixed-use project.

Adjacency Matrix

After considering the occupancy types of my building, I created a series of adjacency matrixes that supported them. Adjacency Matrix were used to look at each individual space and process through each of the needs for the space to function, as well as common needs among those who would utilize the space. This aided in space planning and laying out each of my floorplans.

Bubble Diagrams

Utilizing the adjacency matrixes I created bubble diagrams that layed out the key spaces. These diagrams considered views, lighting, windows and egress.

Blocking & Stacking Plans

The blocking plan helped to layout a general footprint of the spaces within the shape of the building. I utilized arrows and dashed lines to indicate traffic patterns and tried to fit these spaces to scale.

Preliminary Plans

These plans were revised numerous times, but these are general preliminary plans. Many changes were made before and after to ensure that the refined floor plans met code and fit the hopes for my design.

Furniture, Fixtures, & Equipment

When choosing furniture, fixtures, & equipment I tried to use beautiful, yet timeless, design choices. Listed below the design boards are the finish schedule and a series of tear sheets for some of the selections. I kept sustainability in mind to create beautiful spaces that will last, yet also have beautiful benefits for the environment.
